First Blog !
Hello fellow Scouters! This is actually the first blog that I have ever posted on, believe it or not. I just wanted to thank all of the Parents and leaders for supporting the troop this year. So far we have done a lot of fun and cool things and I want it to continue. The boys and leaders are preparing for the Klondike, and I think that the “TROOP 74 SPIRIT”will show big time!! Scouting is supposed to be about fun, and about the journey from boyhood to manhood (well, some of us leaders are still working on that, LOL.) Really, it is a magical time where the foundations for a boys’ life start to be set. There are many days that I really don’t want to keep doing this, but then I remember why I started in the first place; my son! It’s easy to get lost on the path when you are trying to look ahead and to navigate life’s challenges, but we have to remember to look around once and awhile and to stop and be part of the magic, not just watch from a distance. Believe me it’s hard!! So I want to pass along this advice to all of the parents and leaders that read this (ok, scouts too) “spend time being a kid with your kid!” Yes it sounds so simple, but it really is harder than it sounds. I know that the boys see it and understand, but I know that I don’t most of the time (sorry Luke.) Remember, this train called Life never passes this way again!!
